MB: Throughout your career, how have you navigated the challenges of staying true to your artistic identity while also evolving as a musician and performer?

RY: As a musician I’m always pulling inspiration from my own experiences and earnest emotions. While it can be challenging to stay true to my artistic identity, songwriting is a very personal outlet, so I try to allow the natural progression of my growth and evolution reflect in my music!

MB: Your lyrics often explore deep and personal themes. Where do you draw your inspiration from, and how do you translate those experiences into your songwriting?

RY: My songwriting is forged of personal struggles and a lot of past nostalgia. When I’m writing a song I really hone into my feelings in that moment and write lyrics in a stream of consciousness. I draw from imagery and people who have made an impact on my experiences.

MB: The independent music scene can be very different from the mainstream industry. How do you see the role of indie musicians evolving in the current music landscape, and what advice would you give to aspiring artists looking to carve out their own path?

RY: Creating a presence in your local community is so important as an independent artist. There are so many factors to growing as a musician that I’m still trying to navigate myself, especially in media. However, my best advice is to put yourself out there as much as possible and prioritize forming genuine connections.

MB: What's next for you and/or what are you currently working on?

RY: I’m currently working on a few singles and an EP set to release this summer!

MB: Anything else you would like to add that maybe I haven't asked yet?

RY: Thank you to anyone who listens to my music and I hope it resonates with you.
